We are once again the talk of the town with a new edition to our family – Cupid! Cupid is one of 67 sculptures descending on Bristol and the surrounding areas as part of the Gromit Unleashed 2 trail ending in September, which is raising money for the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, The Grand Appeal. Our beautiful Gromit sculpture will be on display outside our offices on Woodlands Lane, Bradley Stoke for the duration of the summer.
If you haven’t already seen Cupid, he is a red and pink paisley patterned Gromit designed by Blossom and Brush, a local fabric designer based in Bristol.
This is the second time, Rhiannon of Blossom and Brush, has painted a sculpture as part of the trails. Back in 2015, she designed the blue and white china patterned Shaun which sat outside St Mary Redcliffe church.
As you know, we are no strangers to the trail or visitors as we have been involved in both previous trails. We sponsored the “Two Ed’s are better than one” Gromit as part of the initial Gromit Unleashed trail back in 2013 and “Shaun of the Jungle” as part of the Shaun in the City trail in 2015.
Throughout the summer, we expect hundreds of people to visit him along the way. We even have a few friends visiting Cupid from Mr Sprinkles (our Gorilla from The Wow! Gorilla project) to The Queen Shaun, The Beefeater Shaun and King Arthur. They won’t be here all summer so make sure you see them for yourself before they leave…
As well as having all his friends coming to visit, Cupid is going to be busy judging the competitions we are running. Our competitions are open to all however some are targeted at the younger generation! The 2 competitions are “Give Gromit a makeover” and “Let me take a Selfie”. If you are a bit of an Instagram buff, we have set up an Instagram account specifically for Cupid. Throughout the summer, we will continue to update his page letting his followers know what mischief he is getting up to. Follow @TopDogDunkleys today.
As you can tell it is going to be a busy summer for us at Dunkley’s. We hope to see you all here soon to meet our newest recruit. Let’s make this a summer to remember!
