This year, Dunkley’s have created their own Christmas cheer by re-creating the 12 days of Christmas with a slight twist!
Each of the 12 days, represents a different highlight of the year (which you may have seen from our advent calendar reveal). This blog, is an overview of them for you to enjoy…
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all,
Love the Dunkley’s team x
1 AWARD WIN
2019 was one to celebrate! In September, Dunkley’s managed to claim the ‘Independent Firm of the Year, South West’ title at the British Accountancy Awards. This National title proves we truly are the best in the South West!
2 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
This year, we had 2 of our Client Partners, Natasha Miller and Fiona Davey reach their 20th Anniversary milestones working for Dunkley’s! Congratulations and thank you both for everything you have done for the business over the last 20 years.
3 XEROCON VISITORS
We encourage and support our employee’s through continued CPD. This can be everything from webinars to events and courses. For some, this means travelling to London to attend XeroCon, a very energetic and fun event focused on all things Cloud Accounting. Amber, Joanne and Katie attended this year and loved every minute!
4 VICTORIOUS BOWLERS
As well as doing your accounts, we try to have fun and socialise! This year we organised the first ever Dunkley’s inter-team bowling competition which went down a storm. Congratulations to Matt for being star bowler and leading his team to victory.
5 CHRISTMAS TREATS
We always get treated by the Director’s at Christmas! This year has been no different. We have had everything from a sleigh filled with chocolates for us all to enjoy to an American supper buffet style lunch, a festive Christmas jumper day, employee ‘fun awards’ and secret santa.
6 AAT & ATT APPRENTICES
Our 5 AAT apprentices, Eloise, Taylor, Emily, Lauren and Joseph and our ATT apprentice Max have been working very hard over the last year to attain their qualifications. They are all at various stages in the course, but we are very proud of what they have all achieved so far and look forward to supporting them in their next steps.
7 AWARD NOMINATIONS
Throughout 2019, we were delighted to be shortlisted for 7 awards including Client Service and Medium Practice of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards and Independent Firm of the Year, Outstanding Advisory and Employer of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards.
8 CLIENT EVENTS
During 2019, we hosted a number of different events for our clients from a Property seminar with Clarke Willmott to a QuickBooks training course, Cotswold Distillery tour, a private view of the L Shed and a conservation tour of Bristol Museums.
9 PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Over the course of the year, we have seen 9 of our accounting staff complete their professional qualifications. In January, Joe, Nathan, Steve and Chloe all completed their ACCA qualification to become certified accountants. Alongside this, we have had our 5 ACCA trainees, Gabby, Laura, Luke, Rebecca and Zoe as well as our ACA apprentice David and ACCA apprentice Daniel work hard to attain parts of their professional qualifications. Thank you for all the hard work, we are very proud of what you’ve all achieved.
10 SPONSORSED CHARITIES
Throughout 2019, we have supported 10 local and national charity events. We have worn our Pyjamas into work in aid of Pancreatic Cancer, taken part in a high intensity ‘Getfitathon’ for Penny Brohn UK, dressed in wrong trousers and Christmas Jumpers for the Grand Appeal, tested our knowledge at a Quiz in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, raced around Bristol in a Monopoly Challenge for the Julian Trust, hosted a table at a French Themed evening in aid of PROPS and beaten our record placing 10th at the annual charity high-speed go kart race. We have also proudly sponsored events in the local community from Thornbury in Bloom to Thornbury Fireworks and Thornbury Arts Festival.
11 MODES OF TRANSPORT
In July, Amber, Chloe, Clement, David, Matthew and Nicole took part in the Meade King Charity Monopoly Challenge. The challenge involved racing around the city to get as much ‘money’ as possible from the specified Bristol landmarks. With 5 other teams to compete against, it was a gruelling 4 hours, but this didn’t stop the team! Their creative use of transport including Police Riot Van, Child’s Merry-go-round and Skateboards coupled with their 2-minute trip to Bath helped them beat the competition by a staggering £1,100 and take home the trophy!!!
12 NEW RECRUITS
2019 has seen our team grow substantially! We’ve welcomed Barbora, Jane, Janina, Jess, Joanne, Joseph, Leah, Luke, Marta, Max, Nathan and Rebecca to the Audit and Accounts, Finance and Payroll departments.
