our community work
Supporting Local Causes
Here at Dunkley’s, giving back to our community is important, and we reap the benefits that these genuine connections have for our wellbeing, our business, and our staff. We absolutely love to get involved in the community and support local charities.
In 2023 we began to do things a bit differently, supporting a variety of charitable causes throughout the year with fundraising, donations, event attendance and volunteering.
Local Foodbanks
We donate emergency food items to North Bristol food bank, and have upcoming volunteering days for our staff.
Mind Bristol
Our in-office tuck shop raised over £300 for Bristol Mind this year, and we are participating in their sponsored run this Christmas.
The Nelson Trust
We attend fundraising events such as the Nelson Trust golf day, and regularly support them with donations and Christmas hampers.
St Peter’s Hospice
In 2020 covid hit! Many of our plans got postponed, and we decided to fundraise over 3 years. Dunkley’s supported St Peter’s Hospice, a charity which is very close to our hearts. St Peter’s Hospice provides adult hospice care for those with life-limiting illnesses.
We did a number of events to support St Peter’s:
- Christmas Hampers
- Dunkley’s Great British Bake Off
- Dunkley’s Tuck Shop
- Easter Compton Car Boot Sale
- Lands’ End to John O’Groats Virtual Walk
- Midnight Walk
- Roaring 20s Ball at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
- Three Peaks Bristol
- Virtual Pet Show
By doing all of these, we raised a staggering £14,347.69 for the charity. The 1920s theme was a spectacular event, with guests adorning the venue in their finest glamour, flapper dancers galore, live jazz music and a silent auction with amazing raffles donations.
Gromit Unleashed 2
During the summer of 2018, Gromit returned to Bristol for the award-winning public arts sculpture trail, Gromit Unleashed 2.
Dunkley’s proudly sponsored Cupid, a paisley-patterned Gromit who sat outside our office for the duration of the summer.
Everyone fell in love with our adorable pooch, staff and the public alike, as thousands of people came to visit. He well and truly became the ‘top dog’ in Bradley Stoke and raised over £630 for The Grand Appeal.
When Cupid was auctioned off, he raised an astonishing £15,000 which made a significant impact on the charity and families involved.
Young Enterprise
Dunkley’s proudly supported a team of students from Bradley Stoke Community School who took part in the 2017/18 Young Enterprise company programme.
The programme enabled students to form their own business, raise share capital, then create, sell and market a product with the aim of generating profits.
The students fought off nine other rivals to win the area finals, the innovation award, the overall company programme, and a place at the South West regional finals in Exeter.
Dinomania
During 2017, Dunkley’s continued its sponsorship of weird and wonderful creatures as part of Bristol Zoo’s Dinomania exhibition.
Our large animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex was the most visited attraction in the walk-through exhibit, which enabled visitors to experience close-up encounters with life-like dinosaurs.

Dunkley’s in the Bradley Stoke Town Council ‘famous witches and wizards’ scarecrow trail
As we absolutely love to get involved in the community, taking part in the Bradley Stoke Town Council ‘Famous Witches and Wizards’ scarecrow trail was inevitable…
What a cracking summer we’ve had with our paw-fect pooch!
Throughout the summer, we welcomed Cupid, a Gromit sculpture back to Bradley Stoke as part of The Grand Appeal’s Gromit Unleashed 2 trail. Cupid sat in pride of place outside our office in support of the Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital. During July and August…
Cupid is the sculpture of the day!
The Gromit trail is becoming even more popular with hundreds of visitors coming to see Cupid each week. Even though the weather is becoming less desirable, people are still been out and about hunting down Gromit’s, Wallace’s and Feather’s before the trail ends. For Cupid this hasn’t been an ordinary week – in fact it has been an extra special one…
